Under the Roses
Under the Roses is an award-winning short film created in 2025, set deep underground in a collapsing coal mine. The story follows two miners — Mark, a young and nervous worker, and Dave, a grizzled veteran — who become trapped together.
As tensions rise and resources dwindle, a chilling revelation changes everything. The film was developed to explore human resilience, psychological tension, and the dynamics of extreme pressure, with an emphasis on strong, character-driven storytelling and immersive atmosphere.
The production spanned 8 months and involved recreating a realistic underground environment, coordinating complex lighting and camera work in confined spaces, and collaborating across multiple departments including cinematography, sound, and production design.
Challenges such as maintaining safety on set and conveying claustrophobic tension were overcome through careful planning and creative problem-solving. The project’s success demonstrates expertise in managing complex productions, delivering cinematic quality, and creating emotionally engaging narratives that resonate with audiences.
